Oh, it's currently illegal to rip cds to put music onto your mp3 players in Australia, crazy huh? Just as well you can't find any cases where that is enforced.
Well, it is iTunes and the computer you are using that would be responsible for 'stealing' an artists (ok, labels) profits, not the iPod, which is just a nice looking portable hard disk.
If their issue is with devices that can play these media, I see every single cd player in the market a few years from now being capable of processing mp3s on a disc. As crazy as the music industry is, I can't see them doing something stupid like trying to outlaw cd players.
