I for one will not be watching this. Episodes 1-3 were enough for me.
As far as I'm concerned the only Star Wars movies/books worth acknowledging are 4-6, Shadows of the Empire and maybe the Admiral Thrawn series (Cause he's cool)
Someone on /. said make it about Han Solo. I for one agree. Get Joss Whedon to do the stories and direct it too. Infact how about they just keep making Serenity and call it Star Wars: Serenity or something to pull in the mainstream audience. ie; ad revenue. Atleast then it will be the first time in 25 years that the Star Wars name has been attached to something worth watching.
I hope the part about covering 20 years of Luke's life is just a way of getting across the period of time they're setting it in, rather than being the actual point of the show - where's the tension if it's about characters we know for 100% sure can't be killed off?
I'd prefer it be about the beginnings of the Rebel Alliance, leading all the way upto the Battle of Yavin. If they could get Jimmy Smits and whoever it was that played the young Mon Mothma involved, it'd be a nice tie-in with RoTS.
Either that or 100 episodes of T.R.O.O.P.S.
